Inspired by a magazine picture, I made this easy cake design for a fall party a couple of years ago. You can have this cake on the table in no time. Simply frost a cake as usual, and shortly before serving press Pirouette Cookies into the icing and tie a ribbon around the cake. Cookie pieces clustered in the center of the cake add the finishing touch. This would also be a cute cake to do at Christmas with peppermint sticks, or any time of year with old-fashioned candy sticks.

Oh, YUM! Chocolate!!!
Another adorable dessert! Is there no end to your talent, Melissa? I hope not! I love these ideas. I could dive headfirst into that it looks so chocolatey and delicious.
You know, you could do some sort of variation on that and make it look like a stockade or fort if you were doing a boy's birthday. Just a thought.
Love the cake!

Sheila
Lovely. I have also done this same kind of thing with a block of neopolitian ice cream (you can use any flavor ice cream) and pirouettes or lady fingers. I made this once for my Dad's bday on Dec. 22 and top it with chocolate drizzle and a holly sprig. All this dessert talk is making me hungry...I am off to find some chocolate!
Wow..what a great idea..I love it!!!!

I love this because you it can so easily cover my terrible frosting job each and every time. :)
Just the perfect designed cake.
And you can't mess it up!
Thanks, for sharing.
Happy Holidays

okay, Melissa. I have to be honest with you...at first glance, this cake does NOT look easy. I thought to myself, "OMGoodness! Look what she's done now!!!"
Looks so yummy.. I am planning on trying your Pecan chicken TONIGHT!!!
Thanks for posting these great recipes!
Looks beautiful especially topped off with a bow. Not many people think to do that and I haven't in the past, that's why it is sooo nice to see what other people do out there. This bloggging is so inspiring!!!!!
Another great dessert. Love the idea for Christmas. I am so stealing this for my dinner party.
That is beautiful! I've always wanted to try that either with those or lady fingers.
That is so cute!!!
Hey, Martha Stewart... (oops...) I was hoping you might could give some suggestions for an easy Christmas breakfast. I wanted to start a tradition of doing something cool but easy on Christmas morning... If you don't want to blog about it, maybe you could just comment on mine! Thanks!
I found your blog site through my relatives blog site. I have enjoyed so many of your posts. I like and have tried several recipes and waiting to try some of the crafts. Thank you for being so gracious to share your talents.
Easy? Looks so not easy! I could fake people out and tell 'em it took me DAYS to make it! LOL
Love the beach pics of your babies!
Thanks for stopping by!
As usual, you have the BEST ideas! Thanks for inspiring me yet again!
You have a lovely family!
What a great idea! I think I am going to use the candy cane idea for Christmas.
