I found a little treasure in my post-holiday shopping: this silver, bejewelled ornament just waiting to be filled with something special. Of course, it could be hung on the Christmas tree, but I think I will keep it out through the winter filled with beads and baubles.
Pink roses give a romantic look for Valentine's Day, while a lit votive gives a warm glow to a cold winter's day.
What could be better than finding such a special treasure with so many possibilities for adding a touch of beauty to a neglected corner of the house?

Your visits, kind words and prayers have meant so much to me this year. You bring sunshine to my days, so it seems only fitting that I offer you a little loveliness in return. Leave a comment below to enter this silver ornament giveaway, and I will announce the winner in the New Year. Blessings to you, sweet friends!
"If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give." -- George MacDonald

What a beautiful trasure, and I want to thank you for your blog! So many days it is uplifting to me when I need it most. Your posts and the quote at the end really provides me with some inspiration when I tend to need it most. So it is us readers that should be thanking you. Sincerest thanks to you, and may blessings, good health and happiness be plentiful in 2011 to you and your family!
Lovely ornament! Lovely blog! The story you wrote about your sister was beautiful and thought provoking. I try to have patience with stangers when I am out because we don't know how big their "bag of rocks" they are carrying may be. Thanks for all your posts this year!

I can't tell you how many times you have crossed my mind these past few weeks. Love you friend!
Oh Melissa,
What a beautiful gift you possess for what you see as lovely. This ornament really is! How nice of you to share what you've found. I have thought of you so often over Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I was especially touched by your comment the day after Thanksgiving when you said how difficult the holidays would be for you, now that a seat at your table was empty, but also realizing that grief can help us scoot our chairs closer. Thank you for that. It was a visual reminder for me to treasure the days we do have with those we love and hold so dear...everyday. Blessings to you and your loved ones in the New Year!
Fondly,
Kim
What a beautiful find! Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year!
Lovely ornament, lovely blog, lovely family. Thank you for taking the time to give us a glimpse into your life and family. You have been in my thoughts and prayers over the months. Out of all the blogs I read, yours is the one that I turn to for peace and beauty. Thank you.

That is a lovely ornament. I found myself wondering WHERE did she get it. Thank you for the generous giveaway. Thank you for sharing your journey this year. May your New Year be blessed and lovely.
Wishing you many wonderful memories to warm your heart and keep your loved ones near as you begin a brand new year full of hidden treasures. What a gorgeous ornament, it looks very 1950's. The little jewels hanging from the bottom are almost identical to a pair of earrings that belonged to my mother. She loved costume jewelry and when I saw these ornaments they reminded me of her. I lost my mother 44 years ago when I was only 10 year old. You never stop loving or missing them, but in time it does get better. The Lord has given us a wonderful gift called memories that keeps them near us and I know you have many to reflect upon. It's never easy to say goodbye to a loved one no matter how long you've been blessed to have them, but thankfully it's only a temporary separation.
Melissa, I've prayed for you at random times during this holiday season when I knew you would be missing your mother. Thank you for your beautiful blog. Do you always have pink roses in your house?
Dearest Melissa,
May 2011 bring your family health and happiness. It has been said that we are composed of the bits and pieces of everyone who has ever crossed our paths and I'm so glad my daughter-in-love shared your blog with me. " The Lord make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee."Numbers 6:25
Beautiful! You have been such a blessing with your message Many blessings to you this year. -Mimi
Dear Melissa,
Your words and heart are beautiful. I related much to the loss of your precious mama as my own mama when home to Him 4/06. I pray healing and comfort for your heart.

Jennifer
What a beautiful ornament! I love your blog. It always inspires me. Blessings to you and your family in 2011.
Wherever did you find these? Can they be bought somewhere? They are gorgeous, and how clever of you to find other ways then a candle-house to use them...
I love all the flowers and garden scenes you depict on your site...you are very talented in the photography area...
I recently shared your post about your sister's experience in the store following your mother's passing with my niece that lost her twins...she experiences those moments often, and it's good for her to know there are "angels of mercy" still around who unknowingly touch the lives of those who need it most...I think we seldom realize that we are surrounded by "walking wounded" people everyday....
Best Wishes for the new year...thank you for providing my days with such grace and a little loveliness....
Take care of yourself...it's been a stressful time for you these last 3 mths....
Spiritual hugs to you!
I just recently found your blog and find it uplifting. Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing!
