The Wedding Machine Book Club

Last week our church book club met to discuss our spring read. The Wedding Machine by Beth Webb Hart gave us a wealth of inspiration for our June meeting. We decorated our meeting room like a wedding reception, using tablecloths, china, crystal and silver borrowed from book club members. Guests brought favorite wedding reception hors d'oeuvres, and several brought framed wedding photos to display. It was such fun admiring the wedding gowns and musing on which couples have changed the most over the years.

Of course, you can't have a Wedding Machine book club meeting without wedding cake. I made this three-tiered cake and covered it in a basketweave design. Fresh hydrangea and greenery complete the design. With about 20 signed up for this meeting, we didn't need a huge cake, so the bottom layer is plastic foam.

Candles, greenery and tulle carried the wedding feel into the table decor.

I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance,

A church filled with family and friends.

I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for,

He said one that would make me his wife.
