Beach Rx

"I find myself at the extremity of a long beach. How gladly does the spirit leap forth, and suddenly enlarge its sense of being to the full extent of the broad, blue, sunny deep! A greeting and an homage to the Sea! I descend over its margin, and dip my hand into the wave that meets me, and bathe my brow. That far-resounding roar is the Ocean's voice of welcome. His salt breath brings a blessing along with it." -- Nathaniel Hawthorne

Our recent trip to the beach with Joe's family could not have come at a better time. My doctor had just told me I would need at least six more weeks of recuperation before I would be ready to increase my activity level, and I was getting frustrated with the tasks I cannot do at home.

A change of scenery was definitely in order. And where better to recover than by the sea, where the only item on the day's to-do list is relaxing?

The Gulf beaches were beautiful and clean in Panama City, Fla.

We vacationed with my in-laws, and they pampered me all week. I did not have to lift a finger during the trip and returned home completely spoiled!

Week 1 of this new phase of recuperation was a breeze, and I'm hoping the rest of my recovery will be smooth sailing, as well.

It's amazing what a little sun, sand and salt air can do when enjoyed with family!
