October Gives a Party

How blessed we are to say that fall is here! There is a delightful chill in the air this morning -- even in sunny Alabama. It is time to gather flowers in autumn's vibrant hues.

To pile on the pumpkins and gourds.

And to sample some of fall's best flavors, like my grandmother's pumpkin roll (recipe here).

It's time to pull out the pumpkin soup bowls and fill them with something delicious. I'm working on a new soup recipe and hope to share that with you sometime this month.

And time to wrap our little ones in warmth with easy fall projects, like this sweatshirt I made Mary Ashley a couple of years ago (instructions here).

Yes, October is throwing a party, and we are all invited to celebrate fall!

October gave a party;

The leaves by hundreds came -

The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,

And leaves of every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,

And everything was grand,

Miss Weather led the dancing,

Professor Wind the band.
