New Year's Brunch Tea Party

"Each age has deemed the new-born year
The fittest time for festal cheer."
~ Walter Scott

While Joe, Carson and Christian traveled to Tennessee for their annual New Year's boys ballgame, Mary Ashley, Emma and I stayed home for our annual girls winter retreat. While the boys cheered Vanderbilt to victory in the Music City Bowl, the girls and I celebrated quietly with crafts, princess movies and girl games. A highlight of our time together was a New Year's tea party brunch. Here are a few photos of our little party for three. Please, pull up a chair and join us for tea.

For a change of pace, I set up our tea party in my sitting room. The girls were delighted to discover our pretty table, and it felt special to share our meal in a room where we've never eaten. It was like dining in our own little private tea room. Mary Ashley and Emma have inherited my love of party planning, so my party girls planned celebrations of their own during our girl time, too. Mary Ashley hosted an afternoon of games and crafts, and Emma planned our New Year's Eve dinner and movie. Spending time with my darling daughters -- what a way to end one year and start the next!

Stop in tomorrow for details of our menu, including a delicious new recipe to share with your favorite girls.
