Slumber Party Table

Inspired by Hostess with the Mostess and bloggy friend Donna at Party Wishes, I knew months ago that I wanted to transform our dining room into a bedroom for Mary Ashley's slumber party.

I turned our dining room table toward the wall so I could prop pillows from Mary Ashley's bed against the mirror. Then I topped the bed with extra linens, including a pale blue matelasse coverlet I had in the closet. Instead of using a chair at the end of the table, we slid an ottoman to the foot of the bed.

Here is the table all set up for dinner. Each girl found a gift at her place -- coordinating pajamas I made for all the girls.

Pretty details added to our dreamy tablescape: Mary Ashley's favorite Build-a-Bear friend all dressed for bed; pink cupcakes decorated to match the girls' pajamas; a lime green teapot filled with lush pink roses; and a few favorite bedtime stories stacked on a blanket at the end of the bed (and known only to me, these books represent past themes we have used for Mary Ashley's birthday parties).

This table was a cozy spot for all the girls to gather for supper Friday night, although it has confused 3-year-old Emma, who keeps asking if she can sleep on that bed!

I am fairly certain that you threw a party that those girls (and their parents) will remember for a long time to come. What a magical setting you gave to them! Your table idea was so creative, and all your sweet little touches, the pj's, I could go on and on! What a dreamy night!

Oh Melissa, it looks so beautiful! You are so awesome! Taylor tore into her gift last night and was happy she got new PJ's. She couldn't wait to put them on! After bath time she ran to her room and put them on last night, she couldn't wait for her daddy to come home so she could show them off. When he got home, he did the ooooo's and ahhhh's!!! I cannot thank you enough for your prayers, I know God listens when you talk!

Melissa,
The "bed" table is a work of art! OMG it is so pretty and unique. Never have seen that before. Do you mind if I share the picture with my daughter? My granddaughter will be 7 in August and I think she would love to have a party like that, even just if it were for her 3 favorite girl friends before her birthday. I love the "build a bear" all decked out in the pink robe. Too cute. I read the post after this first, you sound like a "dream" mom, giving your daughter special memories like this. Yes, I am sure your littl one was a bit confused by the bed on the table, lol. Have a beautiful day and so glad the party was a success. Gosh how could it not be with all the special treats and delights you prepared. What a lucky little girl your daughter is.
Hugs,
Lynn

I love your tablescapes! That is amazing. I think I need to get a little more creative with things like that as I know my children would enjoy that.

I am just wondering where you store everything for your tablescapes as that is the problem I would have -- not enough room for all of the linens, decorations, etc.

It won't really have effect, I think this way.
