Harvest Party

Fall-themed invitations invite Mary Ashley's preschool class to join us for lunch after school today.

October gave a party;

The leaves by hundreds came–

The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples,

And leaves of every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,

And everything was grand,

Miss Weather led the dancing,

Professor Wind the band.

– George Cooper

We'll be sending the children home with little bags of candy, along with laminated name tags made using a laminator and laminating sheets purchased here. Orange and green ribbons add a festive touch. These personalized tags can be tied to trick-or-treating bags this week, then used as luggage tags later.

Photo CDs from our recent field trip make easy party favors for moms.

I love the photo CD idea because I'm one of those moms that work AND try to make all the extra stuff!

Your wonderful ideas are making me feel guilty for deciding to stay simple with our mini party this weekend.

Melissa, once again you do some amazing things!

Did you make those invitations, or did you find them somewhere? I love the little leaves on the front. Lastly, did you use craft paper in the front of your CD's or is that fabric?

The other moms are very blessed to have you make these special treats for them. Your party ideas are not only cute as can be, but very thoughtful.

Yes, I made the invitations by layering scrapbook papers over orange cards. For all the party elements, I used coordinating papers from a Martha Stewart pack I found at Walmart. MS leaf stickers adhered with a pop dot for dimension add a touch of fall. The scrapbook paper has coordinating designs front and back, so the laminated tags are pretty on both sides. For the CDs, I miscalculated when I cut the squares to print, so I had to cut larger ones to fill the case. But the layered effect looks nice, I think, so the extra step was worth it in the end.

Where the heck do you pull all of your fabulous ideas from? If you say your head, I'm doomed. But maybe you have some secret places you go?

Oh, and can I come to the party?

You are a incredible mom and fabulous hostess. It's a joy to hear about all of the creative things you a matter of fact...I think you need to receive the Life of a Southern Belle Award. I'll do the post about it this weekend and send the button to you in case you want to show it. Congratulations.

Melissa, thanks for answering my questions. I appreciate it. If those CD covers were the result of a goof, the goof was definitely worth it. They are really cute!

Lucky moms!
