Favorite Gift for a Little Girl

I treasure the tea set my grandmother made for me as a little girl, so when Mary Ashley was an infant I knew I wanted to give her a tea set for her first birthday. I treasure the professional photographs I have of her at 12 months playing with the Mud Pie princess toile tea set I chose for her first birthday. So many of our special moments in the years since have happened at the tea table, so I love this photo I took of Mary Ashley enjoying her tea set at age 5.

Monday I'll share a few more of my favorite gifts for girls. But for now, I have a pot of invisible tea to brew for a little mother-daughter make-believe magic.

Thank you so much for the invitation to attend the princess's b'day party, I would LOVE to come!

My mom loves tea sets and gave one to Shannon at a very early age, which I still have (of course). We've yet to give one to Taylor but thanks for reminding me....that might be a good idea for her b'day in May!

When Shannon was about 5, my mom had a porcelain (sp?) doll made for her and back in those days, mama could still sew and make gorgeous clothes. She made the doll a beautiful christening gown to wear. So that Christmas when Shannon received her doll from her Nanny, we told her she had to be careful with the baby doll, and from that point on, the doll was named "careful baby." Careful baby now is packed away safely at my house to be given to Taylor at some point, along with the cradle I received at 18 months old (let's just say its an antique now!). I also have the rocking chair I got at that same age which will go to my other granddaughter. I love family pieces to hand down and how wonderful that you've started a little tradition with your girls.

See you soon!

Hi Melissa!
Thanks for you info on the collages! I have made them on Flickr but wasn't able to enlarge them once they were on my blog so folks could see them better.
I'm excited to try the site you mentioned!
As for the size of the photo on my last entry, it was the 1st time I have done that!
I had the girl that designed my blog make my entry area larger than a 'normal' posting area.
I uploaded the photo to and once there in the 'edit' section for the individual pics you can manually change the height and width of pics. You then have to copy/paste the code for html and post it to your blog in the compose section using the 'hotmail' tab on the top right of the new post section.
I can email more info if you'd like hun! A blog friend of mine walked me through how to do it via email so I'm more than happy to do the same for you!
Happy day wishes to you~ Les

Sandy, I used Picasa, which can be downloaded free from Google for this photo.I used the focal black and white tool, and I love the way the effect looks on this photo! Picasa is very user-friendly, so I recommend that you try it out!

Nothing sweeter than a little girl with her little tea set. I still have one from my grandmother and one from my great aunt ~ both passed on now, but the memories are strong.

This is the most gorgeous photo! I just know that both you and your sweet Mary Ashley will treasure this photograph forever, and it will remind you both of your special tea parties together!! My girls share a special little tea set as well, and we often have tea and a cookie together and practice our good manners :)! It is so much fun, and something that we have enjoyed immensely! My youngest even had a few girls over for a birthday tea party last year, and it was a hit! I sure hope that you frame this for your daughter :)!!
