Book Club Spring Read & Giveaway

Our spring book club selection, The Wedding Machine by Beth Webb Hart, takes us to the low country of South Carolina and into the lives of four southern women who have been friends since high school. Hart's web site describes the book this way:

Welcome to Jasper, South Carolina. A place where Southern hospitality thrives. Where social occasions are done right. And where, for generations, the four most upstanding ladies of this community ensure that the daughters of Jasper are married in the proper manner.

Friends from school days, “the gals” have long pooled their silver, china, and know-how to pull off beautiful events. They’re a force of nature, a well-oiled machine. But the wedding machine’s gears start to stick during the summer their own daughters line up to tie the knot. In the low country heat and humidity, tempers flare, old secrets leak out…and both love and gardenias bloom in unlikely places.

The Wedding Machine is a celebration of life-long friendship – the kind that endures death and divorce, accidents and alligators, hot flashes and hurricanes. Even the drama of small-town Southern weddings done exactly right.
Author Cassandra King praises The Wedding Machine, saying, “The Wedding Machine is one of the most charming books I’ve read in a long, long time. The local belles of Jasper, South Carolina, comprise the wedding guild, a group of unforgettable women who made me laugh, cry, and cheer — as all good weddings do.”

Pick up a copy of The Wedding Machine here, or leave a comment below for your chance to win a copy of the book. I will announce the winner Monday!

I belong to two book clubs, but we only discuss the book--it seems you go all out for your book discussions with tablescapes, food, decorations, etc. This is one of those books that would be really be fun to do that with, as wedding are one of my very favorite things!
