We recently celebrated one of my favorite spring events: the girls' ballet recital! In years past, we have had dinner before the big show, but an earlier curtain call this year made a traditional meal seem a bit heavy. So instead we sampled a variety of appetizers and desserts. Here is a view of our dining room before the recital.
For this special performance, we brought in an understudy for our traditional dining table: our patio table dressed up in 40 yards of tulle. It looks pretty good in costume, doesn't it? To make this large tutu, I simply followed the instructions for making little tutus. (Find a tututorial here.)
It was so nice to take time out of our busy spring day to sit in the family room with some of our favorite people. Joining Mary Ashley and Emma for the evening were (clockwise from top left) Joe's parents, Betty and Louis Lester; Joe and me; our beloved kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Stewart; and our friends Neil and Haley Scott.
Stop in tomorrow to sample our ballet recital soiree menu!
