Gifts of Friendship and a Gift for You

Happy Birthday, Vonda!

I hope by now my gift has already arrived on Vonda's doorstep. In honor of her birthday I have a new blend of Cup of Loveliness loose tea called Birds of a Feather. To commemorate the occasion, I searched high and low for a blue and white transferware plate with birds. I found exactly what I had pictured on Ebay. I love this one so much, I might just have to buy another for myself!

Pictured above is a similar plate Vonda gave me for my birthday. We visited Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville together a couple of years ago, and I spotted this in the gift shop after our tour. I forgot about it until she gave it to me for my birthday. I don't know how she purchased it without me noticing, but it was a wonderful surprise. I was tickled to notice that both our plates are made by the same company. So she probably needs the teacup plate, too!

Vonda and I both love Royal Albert's Lady Carlyle pattern, so I will definitely need to use this teapot in her honor today.

And, of course, I will need to brew a pot of Vonda's loose tea, Birds of a Feather. New for spring, this is a delightful friendship blend of black tea with blueberries, jasmine and lemon. See yesterday's post for recipes that pair well with this fruity blend. And be sure to enter today's giveaway to win a bag of this delightful new tea.

To enter, leave a comment telling about a friend who has blessed your life. And if you would like to know more about Cup of Loveliness loose teas, share your e-mail address with me for a second entry.

Then brew a cup of tea and come back tomorrow for thoughts on friendship!

I absolutely love your blog... you couldn't have named it any better! The friend who has blessed my life is my best friend who happens to be my mother! We are together EVERY day and love every minute we spend together. She taught me to sew, craft, love the Lord, be a mother, and there's no one I'd rather spend my time with than her. I'm blessed beyond measure with a mother who is also my best friend, my prayer partner, my confidant, my strength, and SO much more! You won't find a more selfless, giving person than my mom. I am SO honored to be her child.

That you for the chance to win one of your lovely teas. I lost my very best friend, who made me the person that I am today. That would be my beautiful mother, who lost her battle with cancer 4 years ago. She inspired me in every way. I hope that she would be proud of me today, what I've accomplished and the beautiful person her grand daughter has become. My mom was always my daughter's biggest fan, and my daughter was robbed of sharing life with her Granny. I do know, though that she is our Guardian Angel and that in God's timing we will be together again. I miss her every single day and your blog reminds me soooo much of her....the dainty tea sets, flowers, and such.

Please share more about your teas with me at

Thank you,
Amy

Melissa,

I grew up in a family of two boys and two girls, like your own. My sister and I are 21 months apart, and she is my best friend. We live less than five miles from eachother. Our babies came one mine, one hers, one mine, one hers and so on. The cousins are close too.We still delight in doing things together like volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (her daughter has it), spending Girls Nights Out at the theater with all our teen girls, and walking together for exercise at the local college amid beautiful trees and flowers. For my birthday last year, she took me to a special Tea Room. This one is for her.

Melissa, I have really enjoyed your posts and pictures this week.

I am very blessed to have just recently found my best friend. I prayed for years and years that God would send someone just like her to be my pal. Her name is Sue. She is such an amazing woman. She loves the Lord our God with her whole heart. She cares for a very mentally disabled twenty nine year old son (day and night and never complains). She ministers to many women over the phone and leads Women's Bible Study at our Church. BUT the real reason I love Sue is that she brings out "the best in me". She challenges me, she listens to me, she advises me, she encourages me, she laughs at me, she makes me laugh. I just love her and I thank God every day for bringing her into my life. I think she is the BEST!

I remember in high-school being told that your college friends would be the friends that lasted a life time. I thought that was crazy at the time, but it is so true. Julie K. and I found ourselves as roomates in college, neither of us having known each other prior to that. I have never met a more giving person. She gives of her talents at church, often with no recognition. She is the woman behind many ventures at church, and never ceases to display a Godly attitude The children who have come through her classes have been blessed just by listening at her feet. She has been there for me and my family many times over our 15 year relationship, and I hope I can return her friendship for many years to come.

I have a dear friend that unfortunately I don't get to see very often since my family moved to Utah. She has been a blessing to me from the first time we met. Tina welcomed me into her life when my husband and I were dating (her husband and mine are best friends) and made sure that I always felt included. Once Matt and I were married, our families spent a lot of time together. She has been a strong example of a Christian wife to me and a loving mother to her children. God has truly blessed me with Tina. I'm grateful for the days were are still able to reconnect on the phone and hope one day to live close again.

Your blog is such a blessing, thank you! My best friend is my husband Marc. Through good and bad times, I can always count on his loving support and unconditional love. After 28 years, we still 'like' each other:) I have just discovered loose leaf teas and absolutely love them!

I'm loving this week's theme - thanks for reminding us all of one of life's truest and simplest blessings, the gift of friendship. My oldest friend is Haifa, whom you probably also remember from high school. We met during a hard time in my life - my family had just moved to Morristown the day before I started high school, so I knew no one. She lived across the street and we eventually became very close. The fact that we've remained close for more than 20 years is one of the things I'm proudest of, and we have the same type of relationship as you and Vonda - we just pick right back up where we left off, no matter how much time has passed. I consider our friendship to be one of the greatest joys in what is already a very blessed life.

My best friend is my little sister,Tricia. She is amazing. We are so close..so different, but the same. She knows me inside out and knows what to do when I am down..how to make me laugh. We cry together and laugh until..well, whatever ladies do ! My husband and I bought our little ranch close to them, so she and I could be together as we get old. We call each other "Rirta", because she made a typo one day..instead of "Sista", her fingers were on the "R". So...RIRTA's we are !

The friend who has blessed my life happens to be my best mommy friend (I have non mommy best friends and mommy best friends ;)). She just moved on campus a year ago just when I was feeling like I had no friends here in Flagstaff and I was really discouraged. She has been such a major blessing to me and my family and I can only hope that I bless her as much as she blessed me.

Two friends who have blessed my life are my daughters. They have both grown into lovely Christian ladies and are a joy to be with. We attend tea rooms together and I would love to share your tea with them. We love your blog and I've made your little fruit tarts to take to a luncheon and we've used your pillowcase dress pattern with success! Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!

I have so many friends that I could mention. They are more dear as I have moved to a different state recently. I have been blessed with 3 close friends back at my old church that I could always count on for an ear or for practical help.
