Flip-Flop Tea Party

We celebrated the first official day of summer in a big way yesterday with a poolside flip-flop tea party with our friends Emma and Lizzy and their mom, Stacey.

We are experiencing temperatures in the 90s in Alabama, so I scheduled our get-together for 4 o'clock. Our pool is shaded in late afternoon, so this is the most pleasant time to be outside.

I set our table before our company arrived with salad plates for us mommies and finger-food buckets for the children. For this relaxed gathering, we all ate and swam at our leisure.

And, of course, I couldn't send the girls home without party favors!

Swimming, playing and sharing tea with friends was a great way to begin our summer. I'll share more of the fun all week!

oh goodness Melissa! I have two questions for you: 1.Is there no end to your creativity? AND 2.When can I move in next door to you and get in on some of this partying :)?

Beautiful...again!

Hi Melissa

What a way to welcome summer - beautiful in every way. The spotty decorations are adorable.

Finger food buckets are a fantastic idea. It must have been so much fun for the girls to be presented with these delightful buckets.

They are the prettiest flip flops I have ever seen. I love what you did with the ribbons and bows.

In Australia we call flip flops "thongs".

I love the finger food buckets for the kids...how perfect for little ones to grab & go to their favorite spot to eat. Of course, then they will change their minds, and pick up their buckets and travel to a new adventure in the backyard or park.

Great ideas. I am sure they had a blast kicking off summer!

Compared to you, Melissa, I am the world's most boring mommy. For fun today, we went walking through Hobby Lobby clearance. (Fun for me, not so much for the girls). Your photos are so pretty because you have such neat things to photograph. Ditto to all the super creative comments. And I love flip-flops!

I know this is an old post, but could you please tell me where you got the wire tea pot that has the floral arangement in it? I am giving a bridal tea and this would be a perfect centerpiece. Thanks
