Like Pink Lemonade

"The best kind of friend is the one you could sit on a porch with, never saying a word, and walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you've had." --Author Unknown

Fresh flowers in sunshiny shades of pink, green, yellow and white made a happy bouquet to welcome dear friends who stopped in for a visit over the weekend.

I was delighted when my best girlfriend, Vonda, called to say her family would be travelling through Alabama on their way to the beach. Vonda and I have spent many hours together doing crafts, visiting tea rooms, sharing Bible studies and touring historic sites. But she has such a precious spirit, I would be happy to just sit with her on the porch somewhere, sipping pink lemonade.

Vonda is my pink lemonade friend -- sweet, ladylike and refreshing. I will share recipes and highlights from our visit this week. May we all be so blessed to sit on the porch this summer with a special friend!

"I question not if thrushes sing,
If roses load the air;
Beyond my heart I need not reach
When all is summer there."
-- John Vance Cheney

Dear Melissa, What a beautiful blog! I saw your comment on my friend Maureen's blog (Tea Talk) and wondered if by chance you meant Gracie's in Montgomery had closed. Is that the one? My husband treated me to tea there for Valentine's Day a couple of years back and I wanted to return! Thanks, Angela McRae

Hi Melissa:

I too am blessed to have a pink lemonade friend that sits with me, and we go to tea and we work together on projects. We live far away from one another and treasure our time together and I know you will treasure your time with Vonda. Have a fun, wonderful, blessed time!

beautiful color combination!! I want to get some flowers going in my back yard so that I have some to glean from and put on the table each night....

What a lovely tribute to a friendship! My 'pink lemonade' friends' name is Jane, and we do often sit on her back porch with our pink lemonades and ponder sweet things, while the river flows gently by her back garden and the mountains stand so still.

Okay girl - Where'd you get the beautiful polka-dotted yellow/white plates/dishes??? They are just precious! Each time I find polka dot, I grab them up -
I live in the northwest, so I'm praying that you reveal a 'chain' store as the place you spotted them...
Cute pic of your son and Hannah -
Great way to capture memories!
Children grow VERY fast and thank God he has blessed you with such beauties - I have two and feel so rich whenever I Look into their faces and see them growing -
I try and take the snapshot in my mind! It goes fast! Your site is lovely (can't say that enough) -

Beautiful flowers and tablescape creation for your friends!
If only I had enough time to do things like that!

blessings!

Latrice, thanks for the compliments! Aren't those dishes precious? They are Paula Deen's Dot Crazy pattern. I picked them up in Savannah at The Paula Deen Store, on sale and with an additional discount. :) I love dishes and tablescapes, so these are great souvenirs to have from our recent trip.

I picked up six yellow dinner plates with polka dots around the rim and six green salad plates with polka dots all over. Both have a brown rim around the edges. They are heavy, nice quality dishes, and look so cute on the table. I'm sure they will show up on the blog often! I have added a new Google Search to my sidebar. Just type in Paula Deen Dot Crazy, and you will probably find many great options!
